As a member of Yorkshire Forward’s Urban Renaissance panel Will has been leading
the preparation of Master Plans and Public Realm Strategies for both Huddersfield
and Halifax.
Huddersfield was one of the six pilot towns identified by Yorkshire Forward in
a programme of work, whicsought to address head on the agenda raised in the Government’s
Urban White Paper. Both of the Master Plans for Huddersfield and Halifax have
been prepared with the close involvement of the community. Will is currently preparing
proposals for a Media centre for creative industries involving the redevelopment
of an adjacent redundant site in Huddersfield town centre.
Will is currently working on a project to prepare the development framework for
the eastern expansion of Newport in South Wales. Over 1,700 homes and major employment,
leisure and community uses are planned on land to the east of the city and south
of the M4 motorway. The area includes over 600 acres of decommissioned steelworks
at Llanwern released by Corus last year. Will is also preparing a masterplan for
the land around Rockingham Motor Speedway to provide a mixed use urban extension
of the former steel town of Corby for up to 5,000 homes. The proposals also include
a motor industry Centre of Excellence. |
