NSA
The NUDA Student Summit 2012 was the starting point for a discussion that will
lead to the official establishment of NUDA Student Association in January 2013.
There is a need for such an organization speaking the students issues and connecting
the Urban Design students within the Nordic region - together.
NUDA believe that a common platform for Nordic Urban Design students will make
it possible to connect stronger through a systematic network of knowledge. NUDA
believe that a student organization will benefit students in their search for
new knowledge, interesting knowledge, educational possibilities and student rights.
NUDA believe that NUDA Student Association will contribute to a stronger awareness
about Urban Design and make the steps from education into work easier either it
is within the Nordic region or international market. When NUDA was established
in 2005, the whole idea behind was to promote Urban Design as an equal profession
to architecture, planning, landscape architecture and not only an additional competence
to the mentioned professions. Though NUDA was established around the concept of
annual URBAN DESIGN conferences, the pinning idea of the founder was to create
a common ground for students making it easier to take the first steps from education
into work. There was not any basis for such an establishment until 2011. To create
a foundation for an organization such as the NUDA Student Association a strong
basis of networks, professional contents, research and strategy was needed to
be in place which is what NUDA today possess. Unlike NUDA, the NUDA Student Association
will be structured around a higher degree of activity directly benefiting students.
The core of the organization will have to be run full time and managed on various
levels by key people (students) that seek this challenge beside their studies.
The whole internal system of NSA is created around the concept of providing the
involved key people organizational experience related to their education which
will make a good foundation on their future CV´s. The external system is designed
purely for the benefits of Urban Design students and to be the students collective
voice outwards.
STRATEGY
The strategy is that NSA will be of such high interest and necessity that universities
educating Urban Design sees the value of connecting and supporting the initiative,
as the NSA also aims to be a driving engine for improved educational quality and
communication between the universities.
The NUDA Student Summit will be the annual flagship which will seed of other
important activities for students to connect, activate and be engaged. The NUDA
Book which will be launched in December 2012 will contain the full strategic description
of how NSA will be, and hopefully this will be an initiative that students as
well as companies, cities and universities can embrace with positiveness.

We will during the last half of 2012 stake out the strategy and overarching structure
for NSA - but we will now start to promote the organization.
